Sky Bet League One Round-Up

11 October 2016

Going into round 12 of the 2016/17 SkyBet League 1 campaign, Scunthorpe United retain their lead at the top of the league as they sit a single point ahead of Bradford City in second.

Scunthorpe however, find themselves worse off after the weekend as their lead was reduced to just one point after Bradford City beat Shrewsbury Town comfortably thanks to Nicky Law and Haris Vuckic, capitalising on Scunthorpe’s draw with high-flying Northampton Town.

Bury, who top the play-off places saw their dip in form continue as they were beaten 3-1 away from home in the early game on Saturday, at the hands of Peterborough United, who ended their six-game winless run.

Port Vale, who began Sunday out of the play-off places, regained their place after Alex Jones saw his penalty saved, but converted the rebound for their first away win of the season at MK Dons, who subsequently, still have not won at home this campaign.

Bolton Wanderers end their wretched seven-game winless run with a win after a 0-1 win away at Swindon Town, thanks to a Brandon Ormonde-Ottewil own goal with just four minutes left to play.

And Northampton Town occupy the last play-off place.

Rochdale extend their rich vain of form to five wins in a row with a comfortable 3-0 win over Southend United.

AFC Wimbledon extend their unbeaten run in League One to five games with a 1-3 away win at Oxford United, scoring all four goals in the game.

Gillingham lost 1-2 at home to visiting Oldham Athletic who began the day bottom of the league. An 87th minute winner from Ryan Flynn handed the Latics their first league win in eight games. Oldham rose to 21st in the league.

Elsewhere in the league, Millwall v Charlton, Bristol Rovers v Fleetwood Town, Sheffield United v Walsall and Coventry City v Chesterfield were postponed.

The relegation zone is currently occupied by Oldham Athletic, Southend United, Shrewsbury Town and Coventry City.
