Andy Smith Previews Charlton Athletic

18 October 2016

Last weekend, Port Vale suffered defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

It was a disappointing result for Vale as they fell out of the play-offs, something they are looking to amend tonight.

The Valiants host Charlton Athletic at Vale Park for the first time in over 16 years, looking to bounce back from the weekend’s defeat.

Previously, the week before, Vale had picked up their first away win against MK Dons, in which was a good day for the club.

However, First Team Coach Andy Smith, highlighted that there will be good and bad weeks throughout the season, but insists Vale will always look to bounce back.

He said: “Last week was good and today it wasn’t to be for us and we will have to pick ourselves up again and go again against Charlton.

“There is a lot to play for and everyone has bad days at the office, so we are looking forward to correct it on Tuesday.”

The Valiants have suffered a few injuries in recent week and Smith hopes they will have some players returning in order to help them bounce back.

“We want to bounce back, we can’t let our heads drop we’re going to go out there and put on a performance against Charlton, we’re going to be attacking.

“Hopefully one or two players will be back from injury and hopefully it will give us a bit more strength in depth.”
