Portly Vale In Action At WorldNET Tournament

17 July 2015

The club's supporters’ team, Portly Vale, will be competing in the WorldNET tournament this weekend.

WorldNET is a two-day knockout competition, which marks the end of one IFA season and the start of another.

On the Friday night before competition starts, the IFA Challenge Cup final takes place, along with an international match between England and Scotland.

All teams are drawn into groups and play round-robin matches on the Saturday, with the group winners and best runners-up progressing to the WorldNET Cup on the Sunday, while the remaining teams battle it out for the WorldNET Plate.

WorldNET 2015 will take place on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July 2014 at the UCLan Sports Arena in Preston, with the IFA Cup Final taking place on the night of the 18th.

Portly Vale have been drawn into a group including Telford, Gillingham and IFA 11. They kick off against Telford on Saturday at 11:30am.

Jonny Hancock told port-vale.co.uk: "I am looking forward to this year’s tournament, and hoping to progress one better than last years loss in the plate final to Runcorn.

“We have a 16 man squad travelling up and stopping in Preston for the weekend. Portly have the chance to meet local rivals Stoke City as the competition progresses through the weekend.

"The draw for Sunday will take place after all Saturday games are completed which is always fun to look out for.

"We will this year be wearing our new kit which is sponsored by UK CPS, and made by local company Supersport. We would like to take the opportunity to thank both companies for the support in developing the kit.

"We are always on the look out for new players, anyone interested please contact us through our twitter @portlyvale, facebook page or website www.portlyvale.co.uk."
