Williamson ready for the challenge

Striker hoping to retain his place and help Vale towards three points

Having started in Vale last two games, Ben Williamson is keeping his fingers crossed he is selected for Vale’s fixture against Coventry City on Sunday afternoon.

Although he hasn’t been a regular in the side, there is no doubting his qualities and he is well thought of not only by his team mates but also the management staff at the club.

It has been said that Ben doesn’t realise the qualities he has and there has been a lot of work done on the training ground, especially over the last few weeks, to help him with his game.

“If selected on Sunday, one thing is for sure, he will be going flat out in search of a goal or two and perhaps more importantly to help Vale pick up maximum points at the Sixfields Stadium.

Ben realises what a good side Coventry are. They started the season with a noose around their necks, but have gradually overcome that and have showed they have the quality required in this league.

Ben said: “They started off the season ten points down so they have done really well already. They came here and we beat them three-two, so hopefully we can go down there, put on a good performance and come back with three points.

“I am sure it will be a bizarre atmosphere seeing as it is not actually their home ground. I am not really sure what to expect to be honest, but it is another game for us and another chance to put three points on the board.”
