Norton United Football Club were formed in 1989 and entered the Staffordshire Senior League. The club started to gain success, and won the first of its trophies with a 2–1 win over Redgate Clayton in the League Cup.

Further success followed and the Staffordshire Senior League and Cup double was won in 1997. The League success was emulated in 1999 along with a victory in the prestigious Staffordshire FA Senior Vase Final. The League and Cup double was repeated in 2001 and this was followed by promotion to The North West Counties Football League. 2004–5 saw a top 5 finish and they added to their list of honours by winning the Staffordshire FA Senior Vase for the second time.

During the last five years considerable change has taken place. The surrounds of the pitch have been upgraded considerably, floodlights have been erected and the whole playing surface has been relayed at the cost of £35,000.
