- Jackson Smith becomes the second signing of the summer transfer window
- Joins from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee
- The Goalkeeper's deal will run until at least Summer 2029
We are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Jackson Smith has joined the Valiants from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.
The shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, keeping him at Vale Park until at least the summer of 2029.
The 24-year-old arrives in Burslem having spent the second half of last season on loan at Grimsby Town, keeping 13 clean sheets in 22 Sky Bet League Two appearances.
Telford-born Smith started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, experiencing developmental loan moves at Frickley Athletic, Kettering Town and Walsall before making a permanent move to the latter of those teams in 2023.
Having taken over from then first-choice keeper Owen Evans, and featuring 33 times for The Saddlers, Jackson was named Walsall’s Young Player of the Year and caught the eye of League One side Barnsley, who signed him permanently in July 2024.
Talking about his latest addition to our squad, Jon Brady said: “We are delighted to welcome Jackson to Vale Park, he is a player who has already gained valuable experience at this level and has proven he has what it takes to provide a steady and reassuring presence at the back.
"After speaking to him, it is clear that despite his already fantastic attributes, he is hungry to learn and improve and I’m looking forward to working with him."
Everyone at the club would like to welcome Jackson to Vale Park and wish him every success in black and white.
