Midfielder Previews FA Cup First Round Tie
Chris Birchall admits Port Vale couldn’t have been dealt a more difficult FA Cup first round tie but knows what will be required to beat MK Dons on Saturday.
The Valiants welcome Karl Robinson’s side to Vale Park tomorrow for the opening stage of the famous knock-out competition, kick-off 3pm.
Birchall has started and completed 90 minutes in Vale’s last two Sky Bet League One games, both of which ended in wins.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, the 30-year-old midfielder discussed the club’s desire for a cup run and the need for Vale to attack the game against the Dons.
“It’s going to be difficult, it’s always good to go on a cup run, especially in the FA Cup,” he said.
“You get some big ties, it’s exciting for the fans but we couldn’t really have been dealt a harder one – maybe if it was away but we’ve got them at home.
“We know what they’re all about, we play them twice in the league and it’s going to be a thoroughly difficult game but we’ve just got to go out and try and attack them.”
