As we get nearer to Fixture Release Day later this month, we're taking a closer look at Vale's opponents for next season, including the one new away ground supporters will be visiting in 2026/27.
The Valiants will visit one new ground next season in Sky Bet League Two, along with some opposition we have not travelled to for a while.
Vale will visit York City’s LNER Community Stadium for the first time next season, a ground that opened in 2021. York’s home for the previous 89 years was Bootham Crescent. The Minstermen clinched promotion to the EFL after a dramatic late winner against eventual Play-Off winners, Rochdale, on the final day of last season.
Vale’s last visit to York was in the 2012/13 League Two season, where we ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Jennison Myrie-Williams and Lee Hughes, to help our promotion charge that season. We were eventually promoted in 3rd that season under manager Micky Adams.
A trip to York next season provides a chance to tick off a new ground for Vale fans in the picturesque, historic cathedral city.
Promoted from the National League at the same time we stepped up to League One last summer, North London club Barnet is another we have not visited this decade.
We last visited The Hive seven seasons ago in the fourth tier, which ended a 1-1 draw after Anton Forrester equalised for Vale. Click here for the match report from that day. Barnet had an impressive season on their return to the EFL, finishing one spot outside the League Two Play-Offs in 8th.
Vale will also visit Boundary Park, the home of Oldham Athletic next season in a first visit for almost five years. The Latics, who came up at the same time as Barnet, finished 10th in the fourth division last campaign.

Vale’s league fixtures for the 2026/27 season will be released on Thursday 25th June at 12pm.
