We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder, Matthew Craig, on a permanent deal, following the expiration of his contract with Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.

Craig, 23, puts pen to paper on a three-year deal, keeping him under contract until the summer of 2029.

The midfielder began his career as a product of the Watford youth system before making the move to Spurs' academy, aged 12.

He would go on to sign his first professional contract in May 2021 before being awarded a Premier League debut in May 2023, coming on as a late substitute in Tottenham's 4-1 win against Leeds United.

The former Scotland youth international would enjoy loan spells across both League One and League Two levels with Doncaster Rovers, Barnsley and Mansfield Town.

Speaking of his newest summer recruit, Port Vale Manager, Jon Brady, said:

“Matty fits the profile of player we want to bring to Port Vale. Young, hungry and on an upward trajectory in his career.

“He has a real desire to improve, works hard every day and is eager to develop, which are qualities that are very important to us. We believe he has the potential to grow with the football club and make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.

“We’re delighted to welcome him to Port Vale and look forward to working with him as we continue building a competitive and ambitious squad.”
