The Valiants ended their pre-season campaign this afternoon at the Eco-Power Stadium
The Valiants started the game the better and had the first chance of the game on seven minutes. Ben Garrity let fly from just outside the area but dragged his shot wide of the far post.
Shortly afterwards Jason Lowe was substituted as a precaution after he went down and was replaced by Lewis Cass.
On 16 minutes Tom Sang looked to give Vale the lead after he picked up the ball on the edge of the box but again the effort rolled wide of the left-hand post.
Garrity came inches away from giving the Valiants the opening goal after 27 minutes. Good work from Gavin Massey who left the ball to Mitch Clark after the forward recognised he was offside. Clark laid the ball off to Garrity who from 20-yards took the shot on, but it just went past the far post.
It took 38 minutes for Doncaster to trouble Connor Ripley in goal. A quick corner from the hosts which opened the door for Luke Molyneux to try his luck. His low shot flicked off a foot inside the area and almost looped over Ripley but a strong hand from the summer signing prevented Rovers from taking the lead.
A minute later the Valiants continued to dominate the game, this time Massey took aim from 25-yards but the ball went just over the crossbar.
On 42 minutes Funso Ojo went one better and sent an effort that crashed against the crossbar from around 40-yards out but again, Doncaster managed to clear the danger and keep the score level before half time.
The first real opportunity of the second half came six minutes after the hour mark. A Doncaster corner sailed to the far post where Joesph Olowu got to the ball first but his effort went wide of Ripley’s goal.
A flat second half produced the opening goal for the hosts. It was potentially George Broadbent’s first touch of the ball when he tapped the ball home after coming on as a substitute after Vale failed to clear away the danger.
A late opportunity presented itself to substitute Mal Benning from a corner but his header inside the area went over the bar.
