Connor Hall signs for the Vale

11 January 2022

Port Vale Football Club is delighted to confirm that Connor Hall has joined the club from Harrogate Town in a permanent move.

The 28-year-old played a key part in Harrogate’s climb into the football league, becoming a mainstay in their side, making over 100 appearances for the club, including 25 outings this season.

The defender began his career with Bury Town, where he spent four seasons before signing for Biggleswade Town, a move that saw him take on a more advanced role, netting 18 goals in his two seasons with the club.

The impressive form of the six-foot-four, commanding defender earnt him a move to Brackley Town in the National League North, where he received wide plaudits for his defensive partnership with Gareth Dean.

Hall helped Brackley secure a third placed, Play-Off spot finish, in a season where only title winners, Stockport County, conceded less goals.

His performances caught the eye of Harrogate Town who acquired his services the following summer, and during his debut season Hall won the club’s Player of the Year award as they achieved promotion to League Two via the Play-Off’s.

Hall, who also helped Harrogate to lift the FA Trophy in 2020, scored six times for the Sulphurites with the most memorable being the second goal in the clubs 3-1 Play-Off final win at Wembley.

Speaking to us about his latest recruit, Darrell Clarke said: “We’re really pleased to bring Connor in, obviously with Ryan Johnson being sold to Stockport we needed another left-footed centre-half and we were delighted that Connor became available.

"He fits the bill of what we were looking for, he’s played 41 games in League Two last year, another 20 so far this year, so he knows the level and can fit right in.

“Getting the balance right, not just on the pitch, but in experience is massive, we’ve brought in a couple of young lads on loan and now we’ve added Chris Hussey and Connor Hall that know the level, are comfortable at the level and add great competition for places.”
