Port Vale launches Christmas Appeal for 2021

4 November 2021

Port Vale FC, sister company Synectics Solutions, Staffordshire Police, the Port Vale Foundation Trust and children’s charity the Hubb Foundation are again joining forces with community champion Jason Powner to bring much-needed festive cheer to needy and vulnerable local people.

On Christmas Day dozens of families and some isolated individuals will be invited to enjoy Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at Port Vale FC, along with presents and a visit from some special guests.

And, in the run up the December 25, our teams of volunteers will be delivering presents and festive food parcels to children, families and isolated individuals across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.

The return of our Christmas Appeal is a continuation of the community work of the EFL’s Community Club of the Year, Port Vale FC, which saw more than 350,000 meals delivered to those in need during the Covid pandemic and lockdown periods.

Port Vale FC co-owner and Chair Carol Shanahan OBE explained: “In December 2020, because of Covid restrictions, we were unable to host people at Vale Park for dinner on Christmas Day.

“Instead, working with our partners and volunteers, we delivered meals to more than 500 people – mostly families with children – along with around 4,000 presents.

“This year we will have guests at Vale Park on Christmas Day while continuing to reach out to those families and individuals who may otherwise struggle to enjoy the festive season, receive little or no interaction and no gifts.

“Port Vale and Synectics Solutions are very proud to again be working with the Port Vale Foundation, the Hubb Foundation, Staffordshire Police and community champion Jason Powner to again help ensure families and individuals who would otherwise miss out at Christmas are not forgotten.”

Mrs Shanahan added: “We are again asking for help from local businesses and anyone who feels able to donate presents and food to our appeal. It really does make a huge difference so thank you, so much, in advance to everyone who will be contributing.”

This year, our appeal is specifically asking for NEW and UNWRAPPED toys for children aged up to 16, UNWRAPPED gifts for isolated adults and donations of non-perishable food items for needy families.

Those who kindly donate children’s toys which require batteries are asked, if possible, to also supply batteries.

Donations can be dropped off at:

  • Port Vale Foundation, Hamil Road, Burslem, (Hamil Road Stand – Entrance C), the Port Vale Club Shop or Port Vale FC reception – Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm – or the Staffordshire University Fanzone on match days.
  • SkinJase Tattoo Parlour, 83 Ford Green Road, Smallthorne, on Wednesday or Friday, 10am to midday.
  • Burslem Police Station, 6 Jackson Street, Burslem, every day, 8am to 10pm.
