Name Change for Port Vale Women's Team

Following the final fixture of the 2020/21 season we are pleased to announce that Port Vale Football Club’s female team will now be known as Port Vale FC Women – replacing the former name of Port Vale Ladies FC.

The club views it's women players as role models for the younger generation, just as our men’s First Team are.

This new name is in keeping with the way The Football Association, supporters, squad and the board regard the women’s game and is more representative of modern language and equality.

Club co-owner and Chair Carol Shanahan OBE said: “We are extremely proud of Port Vale FC Women and this change reflects the way that the sport’s governing bodies, clubs, coaches, players and supporters now view the status of the women’s game.

“We have a “One Club” approach at Port Vale and celebrate everyone who wears the badge and represents the club as we continue to work on growing and adapting all aspects of the Port Vale FC brand, both on and off the pitch.”

Head of the Port Vale FC Women's section, Kyle Adams said: "We've made significant progress with our female section in the last few years and now have a tremendous pathway in place, from five-year-olds right up to the First Team.

"I feel this is another milestone in showing that we are serious in taking all sections of Port Vale forward – bringing things in line with governing bodies and the modern-day approach to the sport."
