Port Vale are set to face Colchester United on Saturday as we make the long trip to Essex for the Sky Bet League Two. It’s set to be an interesting encounter at the Weston Holmes Community Stadium, but what happened the last time these two sides met?
The last time these two sides met came in March 2016, when promotion chasing Port Vale defeated The U’s on home turf, 2-0.
Goals from Theo Robinson and Sam Foley ensured all three points for Rob Page’s men as they rose to 9th in the League One table.
Goalkeeper Ryan Boot was on the bench for The Valiants as Robinson got his first-goal in a Vale shirt. Foley scored with a neat header on the 73rd minute as Port Vale managed to snatch all three points.
Colchester stayed bottom of the table as they were relegated into League Two in May. Vale finished 12th.
