Defender says competition for places can only be a good thing
Richard Duffy has welcomed the return of Ryan Inniss, saying that increased competition can only be a good thing as far as the team is concerned.
The Welsh defender has been pleased with his own form this season, but knows that his place in the side is not guaranteed and with even more competition for places now it keeps everybody on their toes.
Duffy said: “The more people competing for places, obviously it brings out the best in people. Ryan brings a lot of qualities to the team and to the squad on and off the pitch, so it is nice to have him back.
“People say this player or that player has potential, but I think it is down to the individual at the end of the day, how much they want it and how much they really want to go to the top.
“Ryan McGivern has come into the team and he has done a fantastic job. We probably haven’t kept as many clean sheets as we wanted but we probably deserve a few more than we have got.
Vale supporters have recognised Duffy’s contributions this season and he is currently performing as well as he ever has during his time at the club.
and when you are happy it brings the best out you. Th defender continued: “I feel comfortable with my game at the minute. On and off the pitch I feel good
“I have been here three and a half years and it is probably the best I have felt. I am enjoying it, so long may it continue.”
