Defender is raring to go as Vale try to put things right
Defender Carl Dickinson can’t wait for tonight’s game to go ahead as he and the ads want to start make amends for Vale’s recent run in which they have been shipping goals left right and centre.
Vale have been made well aware of what is expected of them against Colchester tonight and Dickinson is raring to go.
He said: “We want to put Saturday right, I can’t believe we lost after going two-nil up. Some of the goals we let in weren’t good enough.
“The free kick was a ‘worldy’ but the other two goals should have been avoided and we dhot ourselves in the foot.
“It is massive that the game is played tonight because we need three points. We need to start picking up wins again and trying to keep clean sheets.
“I have said it before, but some of the goals we concede are terrible and it is something we need to put right because we need to win games.
“We want to stay in this league and you only do that by winning games and it is something we have to start putting right.
“You can talk about play-offs, but for me I just want to win football games, it’s nothing other than that. You go out to win football matches and we are not doing that and we need to start by putting it right tonight.
“Colchester have had a couple of games called off and they are probably ready for a game, so we know we will have to be on our toes.
“We need to make sure we are doing the right things and doing them well and keep concentration and hopefully a clean sheet.
“One thing we pride ourselves on is hard work and in the second half on Saturday I don’t think we worked hard enough.
“Anyone who comes to watch the games and anyone who has played against is will probably say that Port Vale are a hard working team and I think the gaffer prides himself in having that.
“It is something that we need to get going again. We wouldn’t be where we are now in the table if we didn’t have quality, but we want to make sure we are ready tonight and we want to put in a good performance.”
