Apology to the fans

Gaffer says sorry to travelling supporters after defeat

Boss Micky Adams issued an apology to the 202 hardy souls who made the trip to Gillingham on Saturday and were forced to sit there in atrocious weather conditions in the open air.

Wet and miserable, they had little to shout and watched as their team fell three goals behind, before a late rally gave them something to shout about.

The Vale manager said after the game: “We have these little spells during the season where everybody needs a reminder now and again.

We’ve had an away day performance that we’ve seen a few times this season, it’s not really a shock, but we are disappointed apart from the last fifteen minutes or so.

“We gave the fans nothing to shout about in the first half, it was windy and wet in terrible conditions and it must have been horrible for the supporters.

“We have got to give them something to shout about. We didn’t do that and we can only apologise to them.”
