New Academy Facilities Officially Unveiled

Port Vale Football Club unveiled its newly refurbished Academy building to the press on Monday and said a huge thank you to everyone involved in the project.

Those in attendance were provided with a guided tour of the new facilities, including two indoor pitches, a gym and an IT classroom.

Academy Manager Sevvy Aslam asked various businesses and volunteers to help with the materials, labour and funding when work first started last year.

He received a massive response with Novus Property Solutions, Fitzjohn Group, Werrington Young Offenders, the Club’s Foundation Trust, former Chairman Bill Bratt and Voltuneers Group members John Palmer and Trevor Moulton all contributing massively to the building.

Speaking at the unveiling, manager Rob Page praised the Academy and everyone who helped with the renovation for their efforts.

"It's credit to Sevvy who has worked his socks off to get this complete, with help from local businesses and the community,” he said.

"We haven't got the facilities like our neighbours who can splash £18m on players.

We can't do that so it is all about us finding the gems and developing them.

“That's for one or two reasons – to benefit our first team and help us achieve things, or move on and better themselves and make this club some money."

Sevvy Aslam was very grateful for the help the Academy received, adding: "I want to thank everyone for their input, whether that has been financial or with manpower.

“The community have come through, be that fans or businesses, to provide the facilities we have here today."
