We preview the Sky Blues
League One Preview:
Next we preview one of Micky Adams’ former sides Coventry City. The Sky Blues have had off the field issues to contend with over the past 18 months and will be hoping to coming out of administration in the coming weeks.
On field things haven’t been much better as Steven Pressley’s side finished in fifteenth place last season.
Team: Coventry City
After suffering relegation to League 1 in 2012 the Sky Blues have endured a difficult start to life in the third-tier of English football finishing in fifteenth place.
Coventry did however incur a 10-point penalty for entering administration, without this they would have finished a respectable tenth place.
Coventry fans will be hoping for a quieter 2013-2014 season after the traumas of recent months.
Players:
As with any side that enters administration a host of exits are always expected and that is what has happen at Coventry City.
No fewer than nine players have left in search of a new football club.
Defenders Nathan Cameron, Jordan Stewart, Joe Henderson and Richard Wood have left. Following them out the exit door are midfielders Will Roberts, Josh Ruffels and Danny Philliskirk.
Irish striker Stephen Elliott has also left the club as well a 21-year-old forward Stephen Jeffers.
Expect Pressley to bring in around seven new faces once Coventry exits administration.
Manager: Steven Pressley
39-year-old Pressley is relatively new to football club management but has enjoyed success with Falkirk where he won the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2012.
The former Hearts player has also played for Coventry City during his playing career, his only spell playing in England.
Pressley headed back to Scotland after one season, joining Dundee United.
Expect the former Scotland international to stamp his mark on the club next season.
Key Man: Carl Baker
The attacking midfielder had an impressive campaign for Coventry last season scoring 15 goals in 55 appearances.
A mainstay in the side he was also named player of the season. The 30-year-old former Morecambe and Stockport County player has seemed to have found his level in League 1 after previously playing in League 2 and the Championship.
Expect him to cause Vale a few problems in September when they visit Vale Park
