Defender set to turn out for reserves on Wednesday
Although Vale are yet to find out the full extent of Jack Grimmer’s injury, it is fair to say he won’t be available for selection when Vale line-up at Molineux this Saturday.
One player who could be back in contention, however, is defender Richard Duffy, and the Welshman may just slot in at centre half if he comes through Wednesday afternoon’s reserve match unscathed.
Mark Grew told us: “He had a good work out last week. We were disappointed that the Stafford Rangers game got called off because he was going to play in that and that would have given him a ninety minutes under his belt.
“But he will play in the Reserves at home to Wrexham on Wednesday and hopefully come through and if he does well he will put himself forward.
“I think the biggest part we have missed is his organisation and help the young lads around him. He has been a loss since he has been out; although the last three games before Saturday we had done okay.
“We were disappointed to concede from a corner on Saturday because that is one thing we had solved and we didn’t do that right so again, we will be working on defensive duties this week.
“But also we have got to work on other things as well, it is not just defensively, it is an all-round thing this week.”
