Neil Aspin not ruling out anymore signings ahead of pre season

Manager Neil Aspin has insisted he is still open to bringing in more players during the transfer window this summer, and will pay close attention the upcoming friendlies to see where the team needs strengthening.

It's been a busy summer so far for the Valiants in terms of signings, as 10 news faces have already arrived with Idris Kanu and Theo Vessell being the latest recruits.

With our first friendly of the season against Redditch fast approaching, the gaffer says the busy pre season schedule will play a big part in whether he will continue to add to the squad.

"Injuries dictate on what you have to do. I think the pre season will show one or two areas where we can improve. If we do get an injury, can we play somebody in that position can they do a good job?

"I wouldn't want to have my hands tied at this stage and say well there's going to be no more additions because you just don't know.

"We were able to play some football this morning and have a competitive game, 11 versus 11, so at the moment we're working with enough players.

"But pre season will dictate if we need to bring in one or two more."

One area that the gaffer has made clear he wants to strengthen is up front and has said he wants another striker to add to the side.

Aspin has already made a strong start on that front by signing striker Ricky Miller from Peterborough on two year deal, and isn't finished there just yet.

The gaffer understands the difficulty of signing a striker and has confirmed the club will be looking in the loan market for any potential signings up front.

"Ideally, if I could get someone in I'd want to get them in now so they could work with us during the pre season but you may have to wait until later.

"I've spoken to a couple of clubs about players but they want to have them training with them before they make a decision. For some players it would be the end of July before they'd let them go.

"I'd rather have them now to intergrate them into the squad. But it's not a bad position to be in because we're not looking at all over the team to do that. Certainly for a striker, ideally it'd be nice to bring him this week but if we don't we might have to wait until the end of July.
