Last Time We Met - Gillingham

We take a look at what happened last time we met Gillingham.

Port Vale v Gillingham

Saturday 18th September 2016

League One

At Vale Park

Attendance:  4,719 including 197 visiting supporters

Vale recorded their fifth home win in a row since the start of the season as they moved within two points off top spot, but they had to come from behind to do so against a very hard-working Gillingham outfit.

Josh Wright gave Justin Edinburgh’s side a 25th minute lead and Vale went into the half time interval still behind, with everything to do in the second forty-five minutes.

Vale’s patience paid off in the 76th minute when Remie Streete, who had earlier hit the woodwork, followed up to drive home from 10 yards to level the scores.

Then six minutes from time, Alex Jones netted his fifth Vale goal since joining the club on loan from Birmingham, to make sure of all three points for Bruno Ribeiro’s men.
