PREVIEW: Yeovil Town v Port Vale

12 December 2017

With the Vale travelling down to Huish Park for the FA Cup Second Round Replay tonight, we bring to you all the details you need to know about the fixture.

Competition: Emirates FA Cup Second Round Replay
Fixture: Yeovil Town vs Port Vale
Date: Tuesday 12th December 2017
Kick-off: 7:45pm
Venue: Huish Park

Port Vale will be hoping to reach the third round of the FA Cup with a victory over Yeovil Town at Huish Park, with League One side Bradford City awaiting the winners.

The Valiants were held in the original tie with the Glovers equalising late on to secure a replay with a 1-1 draw.

Vale will also be looking to make it two wins in a week after defeating Cambridge United 2-0 on Saturday. Yeovil lost 2-0 to Lincoln City.

The Opposition

Darren Way’s men sit one place below Vale in the league in 20th as they go head-to-head for the third time this season. There have been two draws between the two sides as of yet.

Jordan Green scored in the last minute in the original FA Cup tie to force a draw. They have recently been on a small run of three unbeaten until they played the Imps on Saturday.

Neil Aspin: “It’s a great competition and I want to get through to the next round. I was disappointed to concede a late equaliser in the original tie, it was a kick in the teeth.

“If we look back at that game overall, we deserve to win it. We have to be positive, I expect us to give it a good go and we are desperate to get through.”

Darren Way: “For me it’s just making sure that I prepare a team in the best way that I can to go up against an opposition that will have the same mindset as us, and it’ll be the team that comes up with the best performance on the day.”

Team News

Neil Aspin could name an unchanged squad from the 2-0 win over Cambridge on Saturday but will have to consider starting Ben Whitfield and Rob Lainton following their returns. Joe Davis is nearing a return and is still unlikely.

Darren Way will be reviewing Oscar Gobern after he came off injured within six minutes on Saturday. Sid Nelson could be back from suspension as winger, Rhys Browne, looks set to miss out through injury.
