As Vale look to the next game and bounce back against Walsall on Boxing Day, there was a time of reflection from the result this past weekend.
Despite starting the game the better of the two sides, with Alex Jones and Rigino Cicilia coming close in the opening minutes, Vale fell to a 4-0 defeat.
Assistant Manager Michael Brown spoke to Valiant Player HD after the final whistle and spoke of his hope that the Valiants can improve next week.
He said: “We look in the dressing room we have a few words and people have got to look at their performances individually and where they can do better.
“Then collectively we come together on the training pitch to improve and try and get some players back to improve us and hopefully that can put us to getting a good result against Walsall.”
Vale now don’t step back on to the pitch until next Monday, nine days after the defeat to Wimbledon.
Brown doesn’t want the result to hang over the team and would prefer to be playing again as soon as possible to put right the wrongs.
“Ideally we would be on the training pitch straight away but it’s only the next game we need.
“We need that as quick as we can, I wouldn’t mind it being Tuesday so this result isn’t lingering over us.”
Also, Brown insisted that Vale had worked on preparing for the aerial threat from Wimbledon ahead of the game.
He added: “We worked all week on set pieces and we felt we got it under control and then we changed it half time because we struggled in the first half.
“But that went against us, it wasn’t just set pieces but overall we were just way off the pace.”
