Bruno Ribeiro Talks Southend Result

Take a look at what the manager had to say, following the final whistle this past weekend.

Port Vale picked up their first win of the new 2016/17 League One season, picking up all three points in a 2-0 win against Southend United.

It was the first competitive game at Vale Park for Bruno Ribeiro and some of the players and it was a great way to get things started.

Vale scored either side of half time, with goals coming from Remie Streete and Anton Forrester, who scored his first goal on his home debut.

Anton came on after just a few minutes, when Rigino Cicilia came off injured and Bruno was delighted with the striker.

He said: “Anton played very good, he had just two minutes to warm up and then come on and that is not easy, but he worked hard and got the goal.”

It was a good performance by Vale as they secured a second consecutive clean sheet in the league.

Manager, Bruno Ribeiro was delighted with his sides performance and believes after a disappointing result in the EFL Cup it was ‘magnificent’ this weekend.

He added: “I’m very happy with the players, they were fantastic.

“I thought last game we were very bad first half and I told the players they need attitude and today it is magnificent against a good team.

“I think we won 90% of second balls and we did well. We scored two goals and we could have scored more with the chances created.”
