Page: ‘Glad To Get Monkey Off Our Back’

Manager Rob Page was glad Port Vale got a monkey off their back as they claimed their first away win of the season at Fleetwood Town.

Super sub Colin Daniel and Sam Foley each netted in the second half after Bobby Grant had given the hosts the lead in the 14th minute.

The victory put an end to a two game losing streak for the Valiants as they now head into consecutive home games against Oldham Athletic and Sheffield United.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Page was delighted with the grit and determination his players showed at Highbury Stadium.

“There was a bit of a monkey on our back with regards to that [away wins],” he said.

“We wanted to get that off us, that’s it now but from that performance today, that grit and determination to hang on, even with seven minutes injury time, they deserved that win.

“Give that attitude home or away and you’ll win more than you lose.”
