Michael Brown Urges Teammates To Put Disappointment Behind Them

Midfielder Speaks After Draw

has urged his teammates to remain upbeat despite conceding a last minute equaliser at Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night. Michael BrownPort Vale midfielder

The Valiants were heading towards all three points thanks to a goal from Richard Duffy but were denied by a 95th minute Wootton strike.

And Brown believes that despite the late disappointment, Vale must stay positive heading into the final three games of the season.

“It’s a step in the right direction and we’ve got to be positive and we’ve got to move forward. We can’t be disappointed, there’s no time and we’ve got to try and get a good result on Friday.

“You can look at why we’re conceding but ultimately we’ve got a game on Friday so it’s a quick turnaround so we’ve got to be ready for a good Preston outfit, a real difficult game and we’ve got to do what we did against MK Dons and hopefully we’ll be ready for them.

The 38-year-old also praised his teammates for their defensive record in recent games, believing they have become harder to beat.

“When you lose six in a row, you start looking at yourself and thinking where have we gone wrong. We’ve gone back to being harder to beat first and foremost and in the three games since we had a chat on that you can see that’s the case.

“You can see the improvement regarding desire not to concede as a team and not wanting to get beat then we build from there, that’s how we’ve set up and that’s we’re going to do for the first few games.”
