PRESS DUTY: Michael Brown, Carl Dickinson & Rob Page

PRESS DUTY: Michael Brown, Carl Dickinson & Rob Page

Trio Face The Media At Vale Park

Port Vale boss Rob Page, midfielder Michael Brown and skipper Carl Dickinson faced the press on Monday afternoon.

The trio were asked questions on a range of topics from Saturday’s 1-0 loss against MK Dons to this weekend’s game at Gillingham and the prospect of facing former Vale favourite Doug Loft.

Below is a summary of the Brown, Dickinson and Page had to say.

MICHAEL BROWN ON PLAYING INTO LATE 30s

“I’ve said myself that 40 is where I want to be, I’m 38 in January so nearly another birthday coming around.”

“I feel like physically I can do it. I think the more minutes you play the better you’re going to be so obviously I’ve missed quite a bit of football.”

“But I’ve had a couple of games now so I will just try and get fitter and just get used to the pace.”

“I think for however much you train you still need games to give your best but you’ve always got to be ready for that opportunity, like against Rochdale – I hadn’t played for six weeks.”

CARL DICKINSON ON COMPETITION AT LEFT BACK

“I’m enjoying it; I think I have done well but it’s up to me now to make sure I stay there.”

“I have done okay but I want to be better and I want to make sure I keep playing every week.”

ROB PAGE ON ‘GOOD' SELECTION HEADACHE

"It's always a good problem when you've got your squad fit and eligible to play."

"It's a good headache to have and we're in it to win games and if it means you get a bit of consistency and players putting a shift in then it's a good problem to have by having everybody fit and eligible."
