Rochdale are one of the best sides Grew has seen this season
After their FA Cup exit at the hands of MK Dons at the weekend, it’s back to League One for the Vale now and the Valiants will hope to get back to winning ways this weekend.
That is no mean feat, however, as they take on a Rochdale side who are bang in form – a team that has impressed Mark Grew whenever he has watched them this season.
The Dale won promotion from League Two last season and despite losing their opening three fixtures his term, they have picked up and are unbeaten in their last five matches.
Under boss Keith Hill, they have won their last two away games in League One, making it five wins away from Spotland already this season and they are currently sitting pretty in fifth place in the table.
Grew said: “I watched Rochdale twice against Crewe and they will be in the top six at the end of the season if they keep playing the way they did, they are a fantastic side.
“They move the ball, play the ball early and there is great rotation in midfield and we will have our work cut out.
“I think they are one of the better sides I have seen in this league and we have got to be right on the top of our game on Saturday.
“We want to keep the home record going in the league, of course we do, and we realise we have got a tough game on Saturday, but I think we are up for it.
“Even though we lost on Saturday, we never gave up. We had a couple of chances after it went to 4-3. We never gave up for 93, 94 minutes and that is the attitude in the club at the minute.”
Along with manager Rob Page, Grew is hoping that attitude will serve the team when in the coming months and he knows a couple of positive results can make a huge difference.
, the points tally above and below us is quite tight, so if you lost a couple you will be back down and if you win a couple you are not far off the top seven.thHe says: “Although we are up to 13
“Our aim and ambition now up to the Christmas period is to try to get in the top ten and then push on there after Christmas. “
