Another clean sheet for the Valiants
Vale wrapped up week in Ireland with a 3-0 win against Galway on Saturday evening to finish off a successful trip to the Emerald Isle.
As he has done in every pre-season friendly up to now, Micky Adams again split the squad in order that the majority of the players got forty-five minutes under their belts.
Vale took the lead in the first half when Ryan Burge took advantage to tuck away a rebound off the Galway goalkeeper.
Louis Dodds added a second for the Valiants in a first half which saw Tom Pope, who has been amongst the goals in pre-season, rattle the woodwork on two occasions.
Ben Williamson was to emulate Pope during the second half, when he too hit the woodwork, but he also added a further Vale goal to extend Vale’s lead.
There was some bad news for Micky Adams when Darren Murphy was forced off with a hamstring injury and goalkeeper Sam Johnson played the final twenty minutes in an outfield role.
Vale now look forward to three games in a four-day spell, when they face Ilkeston Town on Tuesday and Stafford Rangers the following night. On Friday Vale make the short trip to Nantwich Town.
