Coach expecting Dons to be difficult to break down
Following two cup defeats and a home defeat in the league, coach Rob Page was pleased with Vale’s performance at Cheltenham last weekend and says it shows the character in the side.
He said: “We knew it was going to be a tough game going into it, they are third for a reason and I don’t think many teams are going to go there this season and get anything, I was quite impressed with what I saw.
“Another pleasing thing from our point of view was that when we went behind we didn’t throw the towel in, we fought back and got a pleasing point.
“They had a couple of chances towards the end, but overall I think it was a fair result.
“There are always going to be things we can work on, but to go to places like that and grind out a result shows the character we have got in the team and shows what we are all about.”
Vale must now forget all about that match and concentrate on the flood of fixtures over the next couple of weeks, starting with the home match against AFC Wimbeldon on Saturday afternoon.

“We have got to give every team, whether they are top or bottom, the same respect and go out and do what we are capable of doing.
“We have got a fully fit squad, but we are not under estimating it. It is going to be a tough game for us, but we are confident if we do what we are good at, we should get a positive performance and result.
“Wimbledon are a team that is low in confidence at the moment. Are they going to come here and play attacking football? I wouldn’t have thought so.
“We think they are going to be slightly more defensive. They will come here and will want to make it hard for us to break them down.”
