Vale confirm first-ever Hall of Fame inductees

HOF

Port Vale Football Club are proud to confirm the first 15 inductees into the club’s inaugural Hall of Fame, marking a major milestone in our 150th anniversary celebrations.

Selected by an Independent Committee, the Hall of Fame has been created to honour individual players and managers who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to Port Vale, both on and off the pitch, across different eras of our history.

The Committee selected individuals that are no longer playing, based on their football achievements and influence on the pitch, longevity and sustained contribution, and impact on the club and wider community.

The first members of the Port Vale Hall of Fame are:

  • Neil Aspin
  • Tommy Cheadle
  • Robbie Earle
  • Martin Foyle
  • Dean Glover
  • Andy Jones
  • Wilf Kirkham
  • Jon McCarthy
  • Tony Naylor
  • Tom Pope
  • Harry Poole
  • John Rudge
  • Phil Sproson
  • Roy Sproson
  • Ray Walker

Each inductee represents a unique chapter in the club’s story, from record-breakers and promotion winners to leaders, legends and figures whose impact is still felt today.

The Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony will take place on the evening of Friday 19th June 2026 at the King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent. It promises to be a very special night, bringing together past and present to celebrate the people who have helped shape Port Vale Football Club over the last century and a half.

The event will be live streamed, allowing supporters everywhere to share in the occasion. Ticketing information will be released in due course.

Port Vale CEO, Matt Hancock, said: “This is a landmark moment for the club and a fitting way to cap our 150th anniversary season. The Hall of Fame is all about recognising excellence and commitment to Port Vale, and these first 15 inductees truly reflect the very best of our club’s history.

“I would like to thank the Independent Committee for the time and thought they put into this process, which was no easy task given the strength of candidates. The dinner and induction ceremony will be a night to remember for everyone connected with the club, and it’s one we’re all looking forward to.”

Supporters and businesses interested in commercial opportunities around the Hall of Fame, including sponsorship of an individual inductee, are encouraged to email commercial@port-vale.co.uk for more information.

Looking ahead, the official Port Vale Hall of Fame will continue to grow. From next season onwards, one new member will be inducted each year at the club’s annual End-of-Season Awards, ensuring that future generations of Vale greats are recognised and celebrated.
