We can confirm that a special tribute will take place ahead of kick off as we come together to remember former player Doug Loft, following his sad and untimely passing.
Supporters will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Doug's life, career and contribution to the football club before our match against Chesterfield.
A special memorial video will be shown inside Vale Park before the teams emerge from the tunnel. The video includes former Vale teammates as well as Micky Adams reflecting on Doug's time with the Valiants.
Our starting XI will wear walkout jackets with 'LOFT 7' on the back. Ten of these will be made available via auction at a later date, with one being gifted to the family.
This will be followed by a minute's applause ahead of kick off, providing an opportunity for players, staff and supporters to unite in remembering Doug.
Players will then wear black armbands for the entirety of the match as we remember our former captain.
His wife Laura will be in attendance at the game alongside their daughters, as well as Doug’s Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister they will all be guests of honour at the club this weekend.
Doug will always be remembered fondly by everyone connected with Port Vale, and we hope supporters will join us in giving him and his family a fitting tribute.
Supporters who wish to be a part of the tribute should get to their seats no later than 2:40pm
