Submit Your Photo for the 150th Anniversary Community Mural and be a part of Port Vale History

Mural Submissions

As we celebrate our 150th anniversary as a football club, we are proud to announce a unique opportunity for supporters to become part of our legacy. In collaboration with acclaimed artist Helen Marshall of The People's Picture, we are creating a stunning community photo mosaic mural at Vale Park, and we want you to be a part of it.

This mural will stand as a powerful tribute to our supporters, the heartbeat of the club for more than a century. Every face in the mural will tell a story of loyalty, passion and community spirit, with all of the photos creating a wider photo of four main figures from our history (as voted for by you).

The four individuals connected to the club will be revealed in due course.

We are now accepting submissions of headshot photographs with clear, visible faces to be included in the artwork. Photos don’t necessarily need to be at Vale games, but please ensure the focus of each photo is of one individual – group photos will not show up clearly in the final mural.

Submissions will cost just £10 per photo, with all profits from the project being reinvested back into key club community projects.

Matt Hancock, CEO of Port Vale Football Club, said: "This mural is a celebration not only of 150 years of our club, but the people who have stood by us every step of the way. It’s a reminder that Port Vale is built on its supporters and this project will reflect that."

The club will be working with Helen Marshall, known for her iconic public art installations. She will be bringing her expertise in capturing the human spirit through photography to Vale Park for this commemorative piece.

Marshall’s previous projects have seen her work with trading card company Topps, the National Memorial Arboretum, NHS England and Kennedy Space Centre. Closer to home, she worked on the 'Face of Stoke-on-Trent' project in 2017 during the City Council’s campaign for City of Culture status.

Talking about her involvement Helen Marshall said: “I am thrilled to be invited to make this mural to celebrate and commemorate Port Vale Football Club’s 150th anniversary! I have a special interest in artwork inspired by football and also Stoke-on-Trent since when I was much younger I made an artwork in your city!

This is going to a really great piece lighting up the entrance to the club with all your colourful photos, and we can’t wait to read your stories too! So please take part!”
