Port Vale to be represented on the World Stage

Ben Waine NZ

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is around the corner, with this year’s tournament the biggest ever, with 48 nations competing to be crowned world champions.

For the Valiants, we’ll be keeping a very close eye on New Zealand with Ben Waine set to etch his name in the history books at Vale Park.

The 24-year-old forward has earned his place in the All Whites squad, with his selection meaning he could become only the second Port Vale player to represent the club at a World Cup finals, following Chris Birchall who represented Trinidad and Tobago in 2006.

The Wellington-born striker has become a regular in the New Zealand squad, contributing three goals during the Kiwis’ successful qualification campaign, showing exactly what he can bring to Darren Bazeley's side when called upon.

Back home, Waineo hit the headlines during our memorable FA Cup run, including his famous winner (and celebration!)  against Premier League opposition in Sunderland saw the Valiants book a quarter-final trip to Stamford Bridge to take on World Club Champions, Chelsea.

New Zealand’s final warm-up game is against England, with Ben Waine and the All Whites potentially coming up against Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions. You can watch the game live on ITV with kick-off at 9pm BST.

Ben travels to North America as a proud representative of both New Zealand and Port Vale. Whether starting matches or coming off the bench, every touch, run and shot will be followed closely back at Vale Park.
