Phil Sproson

Port Vale Football Club is delighted to announce that club legend Phil Sproson has joined the Valiants in an ambassadorial role.

One of the most iconic figures in the club’s history, Sproson made more than 500 appearances for Vale and remains deeply respected amongst supporters. His passion, loyalty and commitment to the club have made him synonymous with the black and white shirt.

In his new position, Sproson, who was inducted into the Port Vale Hall of Fame last week, will represent Port Vale at club and community events, helping to strengthen connections with supporters, partners, the wider local community and also continue to strengthen the relationship between the club and its former players.

Talking about Phil joining the club, CEO Matt Hancock said: "We are delighted that Phil has agreed to join us in this new ambassadorial role. Strengthening relationships with former players and ensuring the club remains connected to its history is incredibly important to us.

"Phil is one of the most respected figures in Port Vale's history and embodies the values of our football club. His passion for Vale, his connection with supporters and his understanding of what this club means to so many people make him the perfect fit for this role.

We are delighted to welcome him back to Vale Park and look forward to the positive impact he will have both within the club and across the wider community."

On his new role, Phil Sproson said: "I’m proud to take on this new role. I’ve always been proud of my connection to the club and to get this opportunity to represent the place that means so much to me and my family is special.”
