Vale fall to a narrow defeat at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon.
The game's only goal came in the final ten minutes as a Harry Leonard deflected strike gave the visitors all three points.
Darren Moore made three changes from his side that came away with a point at Luton last time out. Mitch Clark returns to the side following injury, replacing Kyle John, whilst Ryan Croasdale and Rhys Walters come in for George Byers and Funso Ojo.
Vale started brightly and had a golden opportunity to open the scoring with just five minutes played. A brilliant ball into the box from Mitch Clark was met by Ben Waine; however, Waine couldn’t keep his header down from a tight angle.
Another chance came Vale’s way shortly after and it was Ben Waine again with the effort. After Devante Cole controlled a cross from the right, the ball fell to Ryan Croasdale, who delicately laid the ball into the path of Waine. With his back to goal, Waine took aim but could only find the grateful grasp of Alex Bass.
Somehow, Vale weren’t in the lead as another good chance came begging. A low ball into the box from George Hall was poked towards goal by Devante Cole, but the goalkeeper did well to stop him from close range.
The visitors did have a chance of their own, completely against the run of the play. A ball over the Vale defence was latched onto by Harry Leonard, who was 1v1 with Ben Amos. Leonard got his shot away, but was denied by a super stop by the Vale keeper.
The Posh did create another opportunity on the stroke of half-time. Following a quick counter-attack, Kyrell Lisbie found himself through on goal, and with Jesse Debrah coming across to cover, Lisbie could only skew his effort wide of the target.
With six minutes of the second half played, Devante Cole came close again for the Valiants. George Hall got past his man again before whipping a cross into the box that Cole headed agonisingly wide.
Ben Amos was called into action again for Vale just moments later. A through ball from Jimmy-Jay Morgan found his strike partner, Harry Leonard, who got his shot away but was denied by the on-rushing Amos.
With eight minutes left to play in the game, it was the visitors who took the lead. A cross across the box found Kyrell Lisbie, who set the ball back to Harry Leonard. The striker's effort took a huge deflection before finding the back of the net.
