Jon Brady's side makes the trip to newly-promoted Cardiff City on Wednesday evening, looking to extend our unbeaten run.
The Valiants come into this midweek game following a 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic on Sunday. Vale had the better of the chances but were just unable to find that all-important goal.
Post-Wigan Thoughts
Here’s what the gaffer had to say regarding Sunday’s result:
“I’m so proud of the effort the players have put in, especially in that second half, to have Wigan camped in their own penalty area for the majority of that second half.”
About Cardiff City
The Bluebirds were a Premier League side during the 2018/2019 season but were relegated straight back to the Championship after finishing 18th in the top division. Following that, they spent six seasons in the second tier before being relegated to League One last time out.
However, following a 3-1 win away at Reading on Saturday, City secured promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking. Goals from Rubin Colwill, Omari Kellyman and Perry Ng helped Cardiff on their way to promotion.
The Opposition Dugout
Brian Barry-Murphy is the man in charge at the Welsh club. Brian took over the club at the beginning of the season following Aaron Ramsey’s short stint in the dugout.
Since taking over at the Bluebirds, Brian has won thirty-one of his fifty-three games, with an impressive win percentage of 58%. The Irishman has spent much of his coaching career in charge of Manchester City’s U23 side, where he won the Premier League 2.
Player to Watch
A player for Vale fans to look out for is 23-year-old Rubin Colwill. Rubin has come up through the youth ranks with Cardiff and has been a highly influential player this season. Cardiff's number ten has got seven goals and four assists this season.
Fixture Throwback
Cardiff City 1-3 Port Vale, 3rd May 1994
The last time Vale came away from Cardiff with three points was over thirty years ago, with the legendary John Rudge at the helm.
Goals from Kevin Kent, David Lowe and Ian Taylor helped Vale on their way to only their fifth ever victory against the Welsh outfit. This would turn out to be a historic victory for Vale as it propelled them to promotion to the First Division.
