Match Officials | Sunderland [Emirates FA Cup]

Anthony Taylor

Experienced official Anthony Taylor (pictured) has been selected to take charge of Sunday's Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round match against Sunderland.

He will be joined in the stadium by his assistants, Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. Ben Toner joins them as the fourth official.

As announced on Wednesday, VAR will be used for this game. Michael Salisbury will be on hand as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) with Peter Wright supporting as Additional Video Assistant Referee (AVAR).

Taylor, who has taken charge of a Europa League Final, FIFA Club World Cup Final, UEFA Super Cup Final, Carabao Cup Final and two Emirates FA Cup Finals, will have the honour of adding Port Vale vs Sunderland to his career appearances.

A known face to those who watch top-flight football, the 47-year-old made his debut in the Football League during the 2006/07 season with his first Premier League fixture coming in 2010, and in 2013, he added his name to the FIFA list of referees, allowing him to be selected for European and International matches.

The official has been in the middle of 822 matches in his career so far and he's no stranger to the Valiants having refereed four times previously, the most recent being our 2010 League Two encounter against Crewe Alexandra. The Valiants took all three points on that occasion thanks to goals from Louis Dodds and Marc Richards.
