We are delighted to announce the signing of defender, Aaron McGowan, on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old links up with the Valiants following the expiration of his contract with League Two side, Tranmere Rovers.
The Merseyside-born defender began his career with Morecambe, making over 100 appearances for the club, having been named his side's Player of the Year in his final season with the Shrimps.
McGowan would go on to spend time with Scottish Premiership sides Hamilton Academical and Kilmarnock, before joining Jon Brady’s Northampton following their relegation to League Two.
After defeat in the play-offs in his first season, McGowan helped the Cobblers return to League One the following year, spending four seasons with the club before joining Tranmere for the 2025/26 campaign, making 23 appearances.
A versatile player, McGowan has featured at both sides of full-back, at centre half, and on the wing throughout pre-season with Port Vale, before signing a one-year deal.
