Aspin and Pope up for Sky Bet League Two awards

Neil Aspin has been nominated for the October's Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award, while Tom Pope is up for the Player of the Month gong following an excellent month.

With the new boss being appointed at the beginning of the month, it has been a positive first few weeks in the dugout for Aspin as he guided his team to nine points during October.

Defeat to Grimsby Town was followed by three consecutive victories against Cheltenham Town, Morecambe and high-flying Exeter City.

Swindon Town did prevail in the last league clash of the month, but Vale now sit outside the bottom two and Aspin will be hoping that the momentum can continue.

As for Pope, his form in front of goal during October was exceptional, scoring six goals in as many games.

The talismanic forward fired in braces that helped the Valiants on their way to three points against Cheltenham Town and Morecambe.

He also found the winner away to Exeter City and he struck versus Grimsby Town earlier in the month.

Winners to be announced later this week.
