Sky Bet League One Round-Up

9 January 2017

After nine Sky Bet League One teams featured in the Third Round of the F.A Cup, only three sides have secured their places in the next round without the need for a replay.

Millwall faced off against Premier League side Bournemouth at the Den on Saturday and they pulled off an outstanding win, beating them 3-0 with goals from Steve Morison, Shaun Cummings and Shane Ferguson.

Oxford United also made their way into the Fourth Round as they surpassed Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United 3-2. Ryan Taylor gave the U’s the lead before the half but Danny Ward was quick to Equalise but goals from Phil Edwards and Kane Hemmings secured the win for Oxford, even with Tom Adeyemi’s late consolation goal.

The final side that made it through the Third Round was Rochdale as a brace from Ian Henderson was enough to get past Non-League side Barrow.

Vale were knocked out by Championship side Huddersfield Town as the game finished 4-0. Kasey Palmer and Harry Bunn added onto a Jack Payne brace to knock the League one side out.

Another side that lost was Milton Keynes Dons as goals from Beram Kayal and Tomer Hemed gave Brighton & Hove Albion a 2-0 win at Falmer Stadium.

The only Sunday fixture that featured a League One side also included Premier League high flyers, Chelsea. The Londoners walked over Peterborough United 4-1, with goals from Michy Batshuayi, Willian and a brace from Pedro.

Three League One sides need to endure replays to see whether they will make it to the next round. Bolton Wanderers drew against Premier League side Crystal Palace, Fleetwood Town finished 0-0 against Championship side Bristol City and AFC Wimbledon finished goalless against Non-League side Sutton United.
