Vale kick off the new year away from home on Monday as they travel to Meadow Lane to face Notts County in Sky Bet League Two, but what happened last time the teams faced off?
The last meeting between the sides came back in September, but Michael Brown’s men couldn’t prevail on home soil and the Magpies left Vale Park with three points.
It was the Valiants who almost opened the scoring on 24 minutes, but David Worrall could only watch as his effort rebounded off the post and away from danger.
Following the restart, Vale had another chance to pull themselves ahead but Gavin Gunning’s 56th-minute header was hooked off the line by Dan Jones.
The winner was netted just 11 minutes later and it fell the way of the visitors, with substitute Lewis Alessandra sending a finish past Rob Lainton with his first touch.
