Michael Brown Talks Wimbledon

Manager Michael Brown thought that his side were fantastic against Wimbledon and wants that again on Tuesday.

Brown credited his sides performance over the weekend and has linked that with the vocal Valiants being a twelfth man: “It was fantastic, we needed a good performance from the boys and we certainly got that.  We were excellent today, I thought yet again we had a great desire, we got the clean sheet and it was a hard earned win.

“I thought that the fans saw the desire and the efforts that the players put in and that was the important thing. Everybody pulled together, the fans were very vocal, I thought the players did great and it was a fantastic win.”

Brown knows what his side have to do before the end of the season and has said that the side need to find wins in their final fixtures: “We know our targets; we aren’t there yet but we have to get to those targets. A huge game again, one more game on Tuesday and we’ve got to keep showing that same endeavour, it will be tough but we need to find some more wins.”

The manager also credited the Chris Eagles goal from Saturday’s game and has named some stand out performers: “Fantastic strike, it would have been a worldy goal, the first one that hit the post in the corner. He’s tried it again and got a great goal from a similar sort of area, on the post. It was fantastic for him and great to have another goal from Nathan. Andre’s done well to come in from the cold, to have not played for such a long time means it was a big, big performance on Saturday.”

Brown looked ahead to the sides midweek game against Rochdale and hopes his players can go the extra mile once again: “It’s a big game, they are all big games now, the players have got to try and recover. It was a big physical ask from them against Wimbledon and they went the extra mile again for us. We have to recover them well and we look forward to the game on Tuesday.”
