Port Vale made history this weekend, as they recorded the best start to a season at Vale Park, since the move in back in 1950.
The win saw Bruno Ribeiro’s side make it five consecutive wins in Burslem, the best start since 1933.
One man who was unaware of this statisistc was defender Kjell Knops, who was delighted to have been part of this feat.
He said: “I didn’t know, but we have five wins and we play good football on the pitch which is very big and we can play football and we have a lot of space and it’s good that we have five wins and its obviously very important to win at home.
“It feels very good, we got a draw in the last minute against Peterborough, which felt like a win, but against Gillingham we got the win and everyone is very happy and it’s very good, I feel we deserved it.
“We had a lot of chances and we deserved the three points after the performance and fight we put in.”
Victory saw Vale rise back into the play-offs into fifth place, level on points with third in League One and just two points off Scunthorpe United in top.
Kjell spoke of the importance to be in the top six and hopes that they can stay in there with a result next weekend.
He added: “I think it was very important to get the win, we knew that if we took all three points we could move up in the league and we did and now we are fifth.
“I’m looking forward to the game against Bristol Rovers and hopefully we can get another three points.”
