Victory on the weekend away from home for Vale, saw them climb back into the top six, and in fourth position.
The Valiant’s remain five points off top spot and four points off second place Bradford, who occupy the remaining automatic promotion place.
It has been a good start to life under manager Bruno Ribeiro and he was able to lead Vale to their first away win of the season.
Following the match, Bruno spoke of his delight in the player’s performance and how he doesn’t want to fall out of the top six again.
“Coming here everyone was fresh and everyone understands what I wanted for this game and we win.
“It’s a great win because it’s a good club we played against, with good players and they are a strong team.
“I want to stay in the top six now till the end of the season, we know it will be difficult.”
It will be another trip on the road for Vale next week, as they face Sheffield United, Bruno, Andy Smith and Michael Brown’s former club.
The manager knows it will be another tough game for his side, but he insists his players will keep working hard.
“We just need to work on the pitch and that’s more important thing.
“We will keep working day by day and in the end we will see what happens.
“The next match we have another big game, coming against my former club who are also a good team.”
