Tonight, Port Vale will find out who they will face in the next round of the FA Cup, following the victory against Stevenage.
The Valiants had Remie Streete to thank, as the defender nodded in at the pack post in the first half, from a Jerome Thomas cross.
Despite booking their place in the next round, First Team Coach Andy Smith believes that the second half performance could have been better.
He said: “It’s important to get through to the next round and get the job done and there are no easy games in the FA Cup so we got the job done.
“We’re happy to get through, but the performance in the second half could have been a lot better, but it’s an FA Cup tie and we will take it and move on.
However, as Smith stated, Vale did the job that they needed to do and that was something he was pleased with.
“We’re very pleased to be in the hat that’s the job we had to do today, make sure we got in the hat for next round and we did that.
“It’s important to win games, we’re through to the next round and we will take that on to the next game now.”
