Port Vale Football Club is delighted to announce UNA Sports Medicine as its official Sports Science partner.
Based in Stoke-on-Trent, UNA Health specialises in bringing innovative Point of Care and Laboratory IVD (in-vitro diagnostic devices) to the UK market.
Their clients include Barclays Premier League and UEFA Champions League giants Manchester City, Sky Bet Championship outfit Fulham and GB Rowing.
Port Vale’s first team is currently using the FieldWiz GPS Performance Tracker, which was issued to the Club by UNA.
The FieldWiz GPS Performance Tracker accurately collects strategic and physical data during training and matches for the Club’s medical and performance staff to analyse.
The Tracker is also used by a number of high calibre professional sports teams, including the French national rugby squad and the Swiss under-21 national football team.
“From the Club’s point of view it’s a fantastic partnership,” John Harbin, Port Vale’s Performance Coach, said.
“Modern day athletes and sportsmen depend on feedback and data and we’ve been trialling the Tracker for the past week.
“We used it in the game against Gillingham and the feedback we got was excellent, it couldn’t be more concise or easy to read.”
He added: “We get the data immediately after the game, within five minutes of the full time whistle, and all of that is emailed to the players.
“It is scientific evidence for what us as coaches think. When you say after a game ‘Louis Dodds worked hard’ for example, this tells you how hard he has worked.
“It also acts as a motivational tool because we will put the results up in the dressing room so players and their teammates can see them.
“Of course the most important result is the score at full time so we won’t take our eyes off that.”
“We are delighted to announce that we are now the official Sports Science partner for Port Vale Football Club,” Laura Cartwright, Marketing Manager at UNA, commented.
“Supporting local organisations has always been a part of our ethos so we are so excited to be working so closely with our local team.”
