Carlisle United and Wigan Athletic have both been beaten by Vale in the last week and the Burslem outfit remains undefeated at Vale Park so far this season.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD in the lead-up to the game against the Lions, the manager said his players need to match their recent high standards to earn three points.

“A win is not going to mean that we are going to win promotion and a defeat is not going to mean that we’ll get relegated,” he said.

“So it’s about managing those expectations at the minute and we want to just recreate and be consistent with the levels of performance that we’re giving.

“If we do that, we will stand a good chance of winning the game. It doesn’t guarantee you it. That’s the important thing for me, it’s maintaining that level of performance.”
