Port Vale Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Raj Athwal as the club’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Raj arrives at Vale Park with an excellent track record having been successful at numerous high profile football clubs in the past, including in the Premier League.
A vastly experienced professional, after graduating from university Raj spent 14 years at Coventry City, acting as the club’s Deputy Commercial Director from 2006 to 2008.
After leaving the Ricoh Arena, he joined Championship side Watford and spent four years at Vicarage Road as Commercial Director.
Raj was then appointed as Commercial Business Manager at Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, where he has spent the last two years.
Speaking to port-vale.co.uk, Raj said: "I am delighted and honoured to be joining Port Vale Football Club which has a great tradition and heritage. In doing so I bring with me over 20 years worth of experience in the industry.
“Part of my responsibility will be to review the infrastructure of the club in all off field areas that are conducive to generating revenue; and to deliver a business framework which will play a pivotal part in driving future growth for both our business partners and stakeholders."
Club chairman Norman Smurthwaite added: “We are really pleased to bring someone in of Raj’s high calibre who can really help push the product.”
